Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful's cigarette Litter Prevention Pilot Project is the first of its kind in the Truckee Meadows area. Out of over 500 Keep America Beautiful affiliates KTMB is one out of thirty selected to conduct this pilot project in our community. The Cigarette Litter Prevention project is a new awareness campaign that deals with cigarette litter prevention. Cigarette litter (cigarettes, packaging and lighting material) is one of the most common items found in cleanups around the country. This project involves a multi-dimensional approach to noticeably reduce cigarette litter.
Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful is working with Reno Downtown Task Force to increase the amount of cigarette receptacles at bus stops and in the downtown area. We are also working with the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony to distribute free pocket ashtrays. Pick one up at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Smoke Shops on Mill St. and on Pyramid Way.
Your input on reducing cigarette litter in our community is important. Take our quick survey and be put in a drawing for a 100% organic KTMB tote bag.
