Christmas Tree Recycling - A KTMB Tradition

Now is the time for trimming the tree, but what do you do with it after the holidays are over? For the last 13 years KTMB has coordinated the annual Christmas Tree Recycling campaign for the Truckee Meadows area. But we need your help!

Volunteers are needed at each of our three drop-off sites between Wednesday, December, 26 2007 through Sunday, January, 13, 2008 to help in four hour shifts. The drop off sites are located at Bartley Ranch Regional Park, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, and Shadow Mt. Sports Complex in Sparks and shifts are from 9am-1pm and 1pm-5pm. Volunteers can choose to work for one shift or one full day. Volunteer groups and corporations are encouraged to bring their banner!

Turn Your Old Phone Books Into Trees

KTMB will be featured on the
2007-2008 AT&T Real Yellow Pages phonebook!

From November 16 – December 31, recycle your old phone books at any Scolari's, Sak 'N Save, AT&T offices or at various park locations. All phone books received will be used to create new phone books and for every one ton of phone books dropped off at parks locations AT&T and the National Arbor Day Foundation will donate 17 trees back to area parks...more info

Creating a Cleaner Region One "Spot" at a Time

KTMB would like to recognize cleanups that have taken place from September though mid November. New Face at KTMB

KTMB would like to introduce Jeannine Desmond as our new Program Assistant.

Jeannine will be coordinating the Adopt-A-Spot program as well as providing support to KTMB's nine other programs.

More Than 550 Volunteers Help Clean Up the Truckee River!

On September 29, over 550 volunteers removed over 17 tons of waste from in and around the Truckee River. Volunteers also stenciled storm drains to prevent future dumping into the river, wrapped trees to protect them from beavers, and spread mulch for invasive weed abatement. This waste was collected at areas along the river from Crystal Peak Park in Verdi to Cottonwood Park in Sparks! Thank you to all of the volunteers, The Truckee River Fund, our partners and event sponsors for making this event such a HUGE success!!!

Laughter Contagious at 2nd Laugh for a Good Cause Event

The 2nd annual Laugh for a Good Cause fundraising event at the Catch-A-Rising Star Comedy Club helped to raise $6,000 for community education and beautification projects.
