Christmas Tree Recycling

The holidays are just around the corner and Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) needs your help! For the past 13 years, KTMB has coordinated the annual Christmas Tree Recycling campaign for the Truckee Meadows area. While providing the community with a convenient means to dispose of cut Christmas trees, this program also preserves landfill space, limits illegal dumping, improves air quality through reduced green wood burning, provides mulch for area park and open space projects and models effective conservation practices for our present and future.

Volunteers are needed at each of our three drop-off sites between Friday, December 26, 2008 through Sunday, January 11, 2009 to help in four hour shifts. The drop off sites are located at Bartley Ranch Regional Park, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, and Shadow Mt. Sports Complex in Sparks and shifts are from 9am-1pm and 1pm-5pm. Volunteers can choose to work for one shift or one full day. Volunteer groups and corporations are encouraged to bring their banner!
