KTMB’s NEW Warriors Presentations!

KTMB's Warriors Youth Education program is debuting new lessons this upcoming school year!

Our program includes hands-on, place-based activities about Waste, Weeds, and Watershed. But what does a lesson about Weeds include and why should you invite us into your classroom? Fantastic question and we will answer that very soon! 

In the meantime, our Waste lesson focuses on waste reduction methods in our area and how we can apply these principles at home and school. We talk about what recycling and composting mean, what a landfill is and how it works, and how this information applies to kids, who aren’t typically consumers the same way that adults are. We play fun, hands-on games that are informative as well as cooperative and most importantly, super cool and engaging.

Watershed Warriors introduces students to the awesomeness of our Truckee River Watershed and the myriad of crucial challenges facing it. Our goal is to inspire your students to create solutions to preserve and protect our watershed and unique ecosystem. As with all our lessons, we play fun games to engage students and get them excited to think about the environment. 

Remember when we were talking about weeds not so long ago? KTMB's Weed Warriors introduces students to local invasive and noxious weeds and the methods to stop their spread, while also doing exciting activities. The lessons will be differentiated between grades K-5, complement the FOSS Science Curriculum utilized by WCSD for the 2021-22 school year, and align with NVACS/NGSS standards. Original Warriors lessons are still available for K-12; updated Waste, Watershed, and Weed Warriors lessons for K-5 will be available at the end of August, September, and October, respectively.
