KTMB Sustainability Series: Repair What You Wear
Join KTMB for an interactive workshop where we will learn about the environmental impact of fast fashion and microplastic fibers, and how mindful consumption and repairing can contribute to a more sustainable future. This hands-on session will teach you waste reduction strategies along with essential mending techniques, including threading a needle, sewing buttons, fixing ripped seams and buckles, and some no-sew techniques.
Liz Wilson, our experienced facilitator, will provide step-by-step guidance, ensuring you leave with the confidence to tackle your own clothing repairs at home. The Patagonia Repairs Team will be there to provide hands-on support!
We will practice on pre-cut fabric canvases and have needles, thread, and other tools available for use, but feel free to bring your own tools. Minors must have parent or guardian supervision. No prior sewing experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and have fun!

Raise the River 2025
KTMB’s annual Raise the River fundraiser will be held at The National Automobile Museum on Thursday, August 21st, from 4:30 to 9:30.
Enjoy a mix-and-mingle cocktail reception with refreshments and bespoke experiences crafted by local businesses! Join us for an evening of food, drinks, festivities, and FUNdraising, celebrating our generous donors and dedicated volunteers. There will also be photo ops, prizes, and raffles- all for a great cause. Raised Experience and General tickets will be available for purchase in advance of the event.

KTMB’s Truckee River Cleanup 2025
Save the date: KTMB’s Truckee River Cleanup will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 2025!
Join KTMB for a cleanup effort along the Truckee River with sites from Verdi to Wadsworth.

Christmas Tree Recycling
KTMB’s Christmas Tree Recycling returns in 2025, running from December 26th through the New Year, at multiple sites across the Reno/Sparks area. Trees must be free of lights, ornaments, flocking, tinsel, and no wreaths, please.
These trees will be turned into mulch for area parks and beautification projects in Reno and Sparks. Please sign up for the KTMB eNewletter or follow us on social media for more details as the event date approaches!

Valley Wood Flower Planting 2025
Join KTMB and the Valley Wood Taskforce as we help beautify Valley Wood Park on June 7th from 8-11 AM. Working alongside nonprofits like Biggest Little Bee City and the Lahontan Audubon Society, volunteers will remove weeds and greenwaste from the park, clearing trails and spreading mulch among the various gardens. Then they will help enhance the gardens at by planting new flowers and shrubs.
Volunteers will be working outside for the duration of the shift. Please be sure to check the weather in advance and dress accordingly. Long pants (no shorts) and closed-toe shoes are required. Don't forget your water bottle and hat! KTMB will provide all other required tools and supplies, including snacks and work gloves. This event is family-friendly; all children 17 and under must have a responsible adult present.

Bicentennial Flower Planting 2025
KTMB and the City of Reno are working with the Reno Rotary Club to beautify Bicentennial Park with new flowers on the morning of May 31st. Join us for our annual Bicentennial Flower Planting event!
We have two shifts available, our early shift from 8 AM-10 AM and our later shift from 10 AM-12 PM. Volunteers will be planting flowers, and should wear closed-toed shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. KTMB will provide tools, gloves, and training. This is a family-friendly event; all children must have a responsible adult present.

KTMB’s Great Community Cleanup 2025
Join us for The Great Community Cleanup 2025 on Saturday, May 3rd, from 8 AM to 12 PM. Join KTMB across the Truckee Meadows at over 20 beautification and cleanup sites throughout the Reno/Sparks area. We will tackle illegal dumpsites, neighborhood parks, and other beautification projects in the area.

KTMB Sustainability Series- Home Composting 101
To kick off our Sustainability Series, KTMB is teaming up with local composting experts Ryan Sharrer, Horticulturist at the City of Reno, and Oz, Lead Rot Rider at Down To Earth Composting!
Discover how to transform kitchen scraps and yard waste into nutrient-rich compost in this engaging and hands-on Home Composting 101 workshop! Perfect for beginners and aspiring eco-warriors, this session will teach you the basics of composting at home at whatever scale works for you, helping you reduce waste while creating a natural fertilizer for your green spaces.
What You’ll Learn:
● Practical ways to cut back on wasted food.
● What can and cannot go in your compost pile.
● Troubleshooting common composting issues (e.g., odors, pests, slow decomposition).

Midtown Winter Cleanup
Join us for a Midtown Winter Cleanup on Saturday, January 11th at 10AM. Trade your bag of trash for a free mimosa and 20% off your meal at Sup after the cleanup, an exclusive deal for our volunteers. Trash bags and tools will be provided. No further signup required.
We will meet outside of Sup, at 669 S. Virginia Street, Reno, NV.

KTMB's Christmas Tree Recycling
KTMB’s Christmas Tree Recycling Program, Procrastinator’s Weekend at Bartley Ranch ONLY on January 11 and 12 from 9am to 4:30pm. This is your last chance to drop-off your Christmas Tree for Recycling. Make sure your tree is free of lights, ornaments, and tinsel. No flocked trees or wreaths, please. There is also a $5 suggested dontion per tree. All thanks to our friends at NV Energy Foundation.

KTMB Christmas Light Recycling-Sponsored by Greater Nevada Federal Credit Union
KTMB and Greater Nevada Credit Union are teaming up to help you finally get rid of that pesky ball of non-working Christmas lights. Starting December 2nd through January 6th, you can drop off non-working or unwanted Christmas lights to boxes at Greater Nevada Credit Union locations in the Reno/Sparks area.

26th Annual Scheels Turkey Trot
The 26th Annual Scheels Turkey Trot is happening Thursday at 8:30 AM, November 28th, for a preemptive calorie burn before the big feast. Registration is happening now through November 23rd! A portion of all entry fees will benefit KTMB! Sign up with friends or family for the Timed 10k or 2 Mile Non-Timed Route that starts and ends in the Scheels Parking Lot located at 1200 Scheels Drive in Sparks. Meet the Turkeys at Rancho San Rafael Park
Join KTMB and Washoe County Parks and Open Spaces to take pictures with the turkeys, meet farm animals, enjoy story time, explore the Discovery Room, and much more at the Nevada Farms and Families area next to the Wilbur D. May Museum. This event is FREE for the entire family. We welcome the community to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

MidTown Fall Cleanup
Join KTMB and MidTown District Reno on Saturday, October 5th, for MidTown’s Fall Clean Up. Meet at 10AM at Midnight Coffee (1401 S. Virginia St.) to grab your cleanup gear and fuel up for the day!
To keep you energized, Midnight Coffee will be serving up free cold brew and sampling their new fall-themed toast—who’s ready for a little apple butter goodness?!
There’s no need to RSVP—just show up, grab your gear, and get ready to give back to MidTown. See you at Midnight Coffee at 10AM.

KTMB's Truckee River Cleanup
Save the date: KTMB’s Truckee River Cleanup will be held on Saturday, September 21st, 2024!
Join KTMB for a cleanup effort along the Truckee River with sites from Verdi to Wadsworth. Sign up now at a site that fits your abilities or by location. Please read the descriptions for each site to help you understand more about the project for that site. Some sites are family-friendly, and some are not, so please read the site descriptions. Plus, there will be a volunteer appreciation picnic after the cleanup with free food, drinks, and prizes. Thank you for volunteering with KTMB!

Post-Pride Clean Up
Help make the Festival the best Pride celebration! As a volunteer, you are the key to making this event a success! KTMB is supporting Northern Nevada Pride's post-festival cleanup. Join us as we breakdown the festival and prepare Wingfield for the next day's park visitors. Please check-in at the Volunteer Booth at least 5 minutes before your shift.

Join KTMB as we head out to Celebrate Washoe Valley on Saturday, May 18th from 10am to 2pm. There will be food, raffles, music, and fun for the whole family. Plus, you can learn all about Washoe Valley from several different area organizations and resources. We hope to see you there!

MidTown Spring Cleanup
Join MidTown District Reno, KTMB, and Fox Brewery and Pub for a Spring Cleanup in the MidTown District from 10am to 12pm. After the cleanup all participants will get a select draft beer from Fox Brewery and Pub.
To volunteer, just show up at Fox Brewery at 10am and sign up. KTMB will provide all the gear for the cleanup. We’ll see you there!

25th Annual Scheels Turkey Trot
The 25th Annual Scheels Turkey Trot is happening Thursday, November 23rd, at 8:30 AM for a preemptive calorie burn before the big feast. Registration is happening now through November 18th! Join KTMB and MidTown District for a morning dedicated to beautifying MidTown District. Check-in starts at 9 AM at the brand-new Sol Up location. KTMB will arm everyone with all the clean-up supplies needed, then set you loose to make MidTown shine! No sign-up up required, just show up and be ready to slap some sparkle on the MidTown District.

Dorthy McAlinden Park Grand Opening
Join KTMB and Ward 4 Council-member Ebert in celebrating Dorothy McAlinden Park Reopening with a ribbon cutting ceremony, red carpet experience for kids, food trucks, games, pumpkin decorating and booths. The fun starts at 11am on Saturday, October 14th until 2pm.

Sun Valley Clean up
What: Sun Valley Revitalization Cleanup
Who: Residents of Sun Valley/Truckee Meadows/General Public. KTMB is working with SVGID and Nevada Real Estate Group.
When: Saturday, October 7th from 10:30am to 1pm
Where: Meeting at Sun Valley Community Center Pavilion - 115 W 6th Ave, Sun Valley, NV 89433. Cleanup will start at the park and work its way out into the community as time permits.
KTMB will provide all the tools/supplies (trash grabbers, bags, gloves, etc.) and dispose of all the trash/debris. Volunteers are required to wear appropriate clothing (shorts okay) and close-toed shoes. Bring a water bottle. KTMB will provide all the rest. No sign-ups. Just show up ready to clean up!

Damonte Park Maze Planting
KTMB is working with the City of Reno to help replant the Maze at Damonte Park with 600+ plants and we need volunteers to help get all those little guys in the ground. No sign-ups, just show up a 8am ready to plant plants! No sign-ups, just show up at 8am on Friday, October 6th at Damonte Park. KTMB will provide all the tools, and the City of Reno will provide the guidance.

Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency One Region Annual Event
Are you interested in what the future has in store for Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County? Of course you are! Be a part of the annual Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency One Region event coming September 30th, 2023, from 11am - 3pm at Rancho San Rafael in the Peavine Picnic Pavilion.
