KTMB’s Truckee River Cleanup 2025 Wrap-up: Summary and Photo Gallery

A total of 705 volunteers participated in KTMB's Truckee River Cleanup to help make our riverside spaces and watershed cleaner and healthier!

Volunteers worked at 27 sites spread throughout the community: removing invasive weeds, picking up trash, cleaning up illegally dumped items from open space areas, repainting and staining fencing, stencilling 300 storm drains, wrapping 25 trees, and planting 20 trees & 60 plants to improve our urban tree canopy, plus spreading 51 yards of mulch to fortify local plantlife. Trash collected included yard waste, appliances, furniture, 12 sharps, 5 car parts, 2 vehicles, 339 tires, and more. Ensuring these potentially hazardous items get disposed of properly not only creates a more beautiful community, but a safer and healthier one as well. Preliminary results from today show that 67,675 pounds of trash and 122,729 pounds of invasive weeds and green waste were removed during the cleanup, making a grand total of 95.2 tons of waste removed!
